Module 1: Staff Safety


1. Safety Precautions

Safety Precautions include your personal safety as a staff member and your safety when in a working environment.

Please read this thoroughly, understand it, and implement these when supporting the client you are working with.

 

2. Infection Control

Infection control is integral to managing infectious disease risks by ensuring standard precautions are adopted for the care and treatment of all clients and when handling blood and bodily fluids.

This includes:

  • Personal hygiene practices.
  • Correct use of personal protective equipment.
  • Safe handling and disposal of sharps.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and manage spills of blood and body substances.
  • Hygienically handle and launder soiled linen.
  • Handle and dispose of all waste appropriately.
  • Correctly clean reusable equipment.
